Journey to Jesus: The Catechumenate
If so, please join us for our in-depth discipleship class.
When? Our introductory meeting is on Tuesday, October 25, at 6:30 pm, sign up sheet on the Bulletin Board.
Why? All Believers and Seekers are called to continually seek the transforming presence of God through Christ in our lives. How? Journey to Jesus is modeled on the ancient Church’s pattern of Instruction. Seekers move through a process of deeper knowledge and deeper commitment. Our Companions provide support for each Seeker.
Each week we will listen to the gospel reading, reflect on our own experience, learn of the gathered experience and wisdom of believers who walk this path before us. We develop a close community of fellowship and prayer. There is little formal homework.
At its heart Journey to Jesus is about Conversion of Life
What is Unique? Journey to Jesus is a class in the Catechumenal Model. The Greek root of this word means “to make to hear”. We listen intently and together for the Word of God in all forms.
Rites of the Catechumenate At each turning point of the liturgical Season we come before the congregation for public prayers and support. These moments are very moving and can convey the presence of God to all who attend.
Our journey in faith is made neither in secret, nor alone, but as Jesus first arranged his disciples, in a gathering of the committed. These personal journeys culminate with the high point of the Christian year – the Great Vigil of Easter (Easter Eve) and the Affirmation of our Baptismal vows.
