JAZZ CONCERT NEWS - Tickets are selling quickly for the Tucson Jazz Institute concert scheduled for Sunday, February 12 at Church of the Apostles. Two youth jazz big bands will be featured at both the 1:00 pm and 4:00 pm concerts. They will be playing a variety of music from the "good old days" as well as more contemporary selections. The skill level of these students is amazing and is sure to get your feet tapping. Both bands have represented Tucson admirably in Europe and across the United States. In jazz competitions they have won numerous awards including first place in the school jazz band division, judged by jazz great Wynton Marsalis, at New York's Lincoln Center.
ANNUAL WOMEN’S RETREAT – SACRED RHYTHMS will be led by Deacon Wendy Hackler and will be held Friday, March 2 at 4:30 p.m. through Sunday, March 4, noon at Holy Trinity Monastery, St. David, AZ. Cost is $110 (includes lodging and meals). If you have questions, please contact Deacon Wendy Hackler 404-5712.
ADULT ED LENTEN STUDY will begin on Tuesday February 21 after Pancakes and continues every Tuesday following the Soup Suppers until March 27. We will be studying in small groups of no more than 8 persons the book titled “Soul Feast” by Marjorie Thompson. Everyone who wishes to participate needs to purchase the book and read the Introduction and first chapter before attending the first session On February 21. SADDLEBROOKE LENTEN STUDY – THE LORD AND HIS PRAYER – Our study of living and praying through the Lord’s Prayer will begin on March 1 at 4:30 p.m. We will meet in a Saddlebrooke Club House and the study will be led by Pastor Megan and Fr. Brian.
PRAYER & MEDITATION - How do we listen for God in our lives? For many, the ancient prayer practice of meditatively reading scripture is a very powerful way of listening for God’s presence and guidance. Beginning on Fridays, February 24 at 11:30 a.m. -12:15 p.m., we will gather for 6 weeks to open our ears and hearts to God. Although you may not be able to attend all 6 weeks, we invite you to join with us for any or all of our prayerful gatherings. Drop-ins are welcome. However, we do ask that if you hope to attend, please sign up now to assist us in planning. If you have any questions, or to register, please contact Loretta Barker by calling 572-2427. (A sign-up sheet is also located at the back of the church.)
SPRING PARENTS NITE OUT will be held on Saturday, March 17 from 4 to 8 p.m. There are a number of adult helpers that have already volunteered, but if you would like to help...we would certainly appreciate it! We are in need of ideas for games and also videos to borrow for that evening.
